The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce three important new technology tools available for all of our residents.
Working with the Appriss Corporation, a downloadable application or app for the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, is now available to the public in either the Iphone or Android formats (search for Calhoun County Sheriff). This FREE app (first of its kind in Alabama) provides users instant access to information directly from the Sheriff’s Office files—including a list of the people currently in jail, outstanding arrest warrants, names and addresses of Sex Offenders with map locations, and our Most Wanted List. In this app, crime victims now have a powerful new tool where they can sign up for alert notifications about the status of suspects. Those that choose to receive alerts will be notified about criminals being released from jail and other key events in the criminal justice process, keeping them better informed about the status of cases for those that were victimized. Citizens may also sign up for alerts allowing instant notification of events in our area that impact their safety.
There is a Neighborhood Watch App available to citizens for only $1.99. Using the Neighborhood Watch App, citizens can report a crime and include a photograph taken from their phone. This app was created for the National Sheriff’s Association in partnership with The Community Safety Institute.
In addition to the new smart phone apps, the Sheriff’s Office has a new Web Page. The new page is more attractive, informative and intuitive. Our newest feature is a Crime Map depicting offenses reported to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office displayed by crime category or date. Working with our partners, Wide Net Consulting and the Calhoun County GIS Office, we are staying up to date with technology that will be beneficial to our citizens. Information that Calhoun County residents have already become accustomed to on the old site such as inmate rosters, outstanding warrants, Most Wanted, sex offender listings, and the pistol permit application will continue to be available on the new page.
