K-9 Division
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office K9 Division, began in 1998, is based out of the jail and staffed with corrections officers as handlers. The K9s are bought trained for patrol, explosives, drugs, search, and rescue operations. Once purchased each handler and K-9 partner are sent to additional training where the officer learns how to handle the animal professionally.
Both Officer and K9 are constantly training to ensure the team’s readiness when called upon. The team is used to patrol the hallways of the jail and streets of Calhoun County.
The Sheriff’s Office currently has five K9 deputies.
